1. I can’t believe its Friday, talk about a long week. and 2. I can’t believe it’s May. Time has been flying. Flying so fast that I finished my last final today, so I am officially done with the semester! That One Thing this week isn’t necessarily something that helped me get through this week, but I wanted to share it because it will help me through this next week. Also, I hope it may help you through next week too. Today is the first day of the Novena to Mary, the Undoer of Knots.
We all have knots in our lives, whether it’s a bad habit, a rough relationship, or even something that’s making us suffer. When I think of my life, I basically picture a giant knot. Not one of those pretty nautical knots that you see hanging on the walls of a Vineyard Vines store, but one of those “three different cords coming out of three different parts of the TV shoved behind the cabinet in the dark where you can’t see to fix them” kind of knots. I’m praying that through this novena, I will not only be able to undo the knots of suffering in my life, but also undo the knots that are keeping me from growing spiritually.
My favorite line in today’s prayer is, “Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life.” I loved that part of the prayer because it made me see Mary as a mother in a different way. Praying it, I pictured a child playing with a ribbon, and when a knot appeared, the child would run up to the mother for her to fix it. I just loved the image of our lives being a ribbon. It’s long and smooth, but once there’s a knot, Mary is there to fix it for us so the ribbon can be smooth again.
Join me in the novena! (it started today but you can catch up). Attached is the link to the prayers. You can even subscribe and they will send you an email with the prayers every day (which is greatly appreciated because I forget everything). Have a good week and I’ll be praying for you!
